The beneficial bacteria in Bio-Kult are cryoprotected during the freeze-drying process, which gives two main benefits:
1. They are protected from the stomach’s harsh acid environment and can colonize the full length of the gastrointestinal tract.
2. The process allows Bio-Kult to be stored at room temperature without refrigeration.

 

Bio-Kult  can be used continuously or for a short period, e.g. when taking antibiotics

 

Contains soya and milk, used in the fermentation process. The content of milk is at a level that would not affect lactose-intolerant sufferers.

Each capsule contains:

  • 2 billion live microorganisms per capsule (2×109 CFU), viable throughout the shelf life, equivalent to 10 billion live microorganisms per gram (1×1010 CFU).

Usage Storage:

  • Keep sealed and store in cool, dry conditions.
  • Can be stored at room temperature without the need for refrigeration. In high, ambient temperatures (25°C+) air-conditioning or refrigeration would be cautionary to assist in maintaining shelf life.
  • Total bacteria count viable until end of the shelf life

Directions for use:

  • Take 1 – 2 capsules once or twice daily with food. If taking two or more capsules daily, you may wish to split the dose between two meals
  • Bio-Kult is a completely safe probiotic, has no contraindications and carries no risk of overdose
  • Bio-Kult probiotic capsules can be swallowed whole or pulled apart and the contents sprinkled on to food, or mixed in a drink.

If you are taking antibiotics:

  • Take 4 capsules daily, ideally at a different time of the day from the antibiotics.
  • Continue taking for at least 2 weeks after completion of the antibiotic course.

For travellers:

  • 2 weeks before travel follow guidelines for general use.
  • During travel take 4 capsules daily.
  • Continue to take for at least 2 weeks following the end of travel.

Children under 12:

  • Take 1/2 to 1 capsule once or twice daily with food.

1) What are Prebiotics and how do they work?

In layman term, prebiotics are food for the probiotics. A prebiotic is commonly described as a substance that preferentially or selectively feeds friendly bacteria in the digestive tract.

 

Fructo-oligosaccharide (FOS) and Inulin are examples of a prebiotic which is a non-digestible, soluble-fibre carbohydrate that selectively stimulates the growth and/or activity of probiotics e.g. Bifidobacteria, Lactobacilli and other beneficial flora contained in the gut.

 

Prebiotics preferentially feed the beneficial ‘friendly’ bacteria that promote health in the gastrointestinal tract. This gives the good bacteria in our digestive tracts a survival advantage over bad bacteria.

 

The intake of probiotics and the ingestion of prebiotic substances are complementary ways that can be used to promote digestive and immune health. Daily use of prebiotics may confer improvement in gut health and intestinal defenses.

 

2) What are Synbiotics and how do they work?

Synbiotics are appropriate combinations of prebiotics and probiotics.

 

A symbiotic product exerts both a prebiotic and probiotic effect.

 

The action of probiotics is enhanced by the addition of prebiotics – non digestible substance that provide a beneficial physiological effect for the host by selectively stimulating the favorable growth or activity of a limited number of indigenous bacteria.

4) Is it possible to overdose on Probiotics?

No, even if you have a relatively healthy intestinal tract with balanced good bacteria, you can still safely take Probiotics for preventive purposes.
